FAQ

Why does my home need checking?

Insurance companies can refuse to honour property claims if your home is left unattended & unchecked for a period of time. They either require a check every 72 hrs or weekly. You determine the frequency of checks according to your insurance requirements.

Why do I need a home checking service?

The question is, how can you not have one? So many things can happen to your home in your absence: water leaks, electrical problems, insect and pest damage, mold, and storms, to name a few.

On the other hand, preventive measures such as preparation and pro-active maintenance should prevent many situations from arising.

What if there is a problem or situation at the house?

If the situation is an emergency, it will be handled in the fastest, safest, and most cost-effective way with trusted trades of SEAMAC Home Check. You will be contacted with pictures of the issue as soon as possible.

In a non-emergency situation, you will be contacted with pictures to discuss and implement a course of action.

Is a home checking service a security service?

Not as a rule; but, having a visible presence in your vacant home may act as a crime deterrent. We do answer alarm calls and are familiar to local law enforcement. We are Security Certified according to the BC Security Services Act.

Who will be going in my house when checking?

Sylvia May, who is a certified Security Professional, will enter your home and will be the main person checking. John May, RCMP, will accompany Sylvia if a security issue is at hand (i.e. answering an alarm call out).

What other services does SEAMAC Home Check provide?

A host of services, such as lawn care, gardening, pressure washing, as well as more of a property management service is also offered. If we don’t provide it, we can certainly arrange for any service that you might need, using our knowledge of local contractors and trades.
